The arepas are traditional in Venezuela, i love them, but the main product ( Harina Pan ) it's not that healthy, because they use transgenic corn to made their flour. Thanks to my mentor @verdeyrebelde, i found an ORGANIC + GLUTEN FREE + WHOLE GRAIN flour to make them, and it's so delicious...
Ingredients:
Organic Yellow Corn Meal ( Arrowhead Mills)
Oats
Water
Salt
Coconut oil
Avocado
Tomato
Chia Seeds
Ready to start?
First you have to grab a bowl and mix 1 cup of the Organic Yellow Corn Meal with a half cup of oats, add a pinch of salt. Then start adding the water slowly, while you mix the ingredients with your hands. You have to be able to do a ball with the dough, then you just have to make it round an flat...
Pre Heat a small pan with a pinch of coconut oil, when it's ready put the arepa in the pan, and let it cook 8 min for each side... If you want it more crunchy, you can put it for 10 more minutes in the oven.
And voila... It's Ready to eat...
I served mine with an egg, avocado, and diced tomato. A little bit of lemon juice in the avocado and tomato with chia seeds... Amazing breakfast for an amazing day.
